The multi-award winning, longest-running poetry slam on the West Coast presents the 2026/2027 Berkeley Slam Team Showcase. This team, formed through fierce competition among the top competitors in the Bay Area poetry slam scene, is embarking on an unprecedented endeavor to collaborate for a full year to create group poetic pieces that push the boundaries of the spoken word art form. Blending individual poetic voice, choral power, and genre-bending choreography, they will perform works exploring themes of marginalization, resilience, and community empowerment.

Across fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and hybrid forms, these writers engage with memory, archives, identity, and the fragile timelines that shape our lives. Rooted in a yearlong residency in support of the public library, this work reflects both personal histories and the collective record.
